ABOUT US

Welcome to the Ranch!

Red Bluff Guest Ranch was founded in memory of Andrea Sloan, who developed strong ties to the hill country during her courageous 7½-year battle with ovarian cancer. Inspired by her spirit and love for nature, John and Karen (her parents) established the ranch to offer personalized rural escapes that allow guests to unwind, explore, and reconnect with the natural world.

From the Classroom to the Great Outdoors

John and Karen spent decades immersed in the world of academia—teaching, researching, and shaping minds. But their love for wide-open spaces, wildlife, and the simple beauty of the Texas Hill Country eventually led them down a different path. Trading lecture halls for rolling pastures, they embraced ranch life, not just as a lifestyle but as a calling to create meaningful experiences for others.

At Red Bluff Guest Ranch, John and Karen have combined their passion for learning with their love of nature, offering guests a unique and immersive retreat. Whether it’s sharing stories about the land’s history, delivering firewood, or simply ensuring every stay feels personal and welcoming, they are committed to creating a Signature Ranch Vacation where visitors can unplug, unwind, and reconnect with the outdoors.

What started as a dream is now a reality—a place where guests aren’t just visitors, but part of the story. Whether you’re here to explore, relax, or experience the magic of the ranch, John and Karen are ready to welcome you.

In the Beginning . . .

Andi's Cabin, built in 2019 and first made available to guests in 2022, has sheltered hundreds of visitors who come to hike Colorado Bend State Park; fish from our private banks; see the exotics; birdwatch; celebrate birthdays, anniversaries,  honeymoons, and babymoons; or to unplug, unwind, and enjoy our secluded, yet convenient, ranch.
